16/10/2020   Workforce Development Fund

The Workforce Development Fund is a funding stream from the Department of Health and Social Care and disbursed by Skills for Care. It supports the provision of high-quality care by allowing providers to claim back money towards the cost of workers completing a broad range of adult social care qualifications.

Providers can claim funding towards the cost of listed qualifications, learning programmes and digital learning modules completed between 1st January 2020 and the 31st March 2021. This includes money towards the cost of course fees (or employer contributions) and associated costs such as:

  • Employees’ salaries whilst they’re undertaking training
  • Coaching and mentoring costs
  • Venue costs for training
  • Wage replacement costs

All costs must be incurred before the funding is claimed and employers must ensure they have records in place to evidence the costs of any claim they make.
