22/07/2020   Families and friends to be reunited with loved ones in care homes as visits recommence

We welcome today's announcement that care home visits can recommence – but only if care homes consider it safe to do so.

The guidance, published today, will help care homes across Lincolnshire to plan and prepare for how to bring loved ones safely back together again.

Following the announcement, our Chair, Melanie Weatherley MBE, said:

“It’s been a difficult few months for our staff and our residents in care homes. Not being able to receive visits from loved ones has been painful for many, but we are pleased our members can now bring family members back together again safely now that guidance has been issued and it is clear on what we all need to do to protect those living and working in care homes.

"I particularly welcome how this guidance maximises the input of local professionals into how the guidance should be implemented. We look forward to working with the Director of Public Health in Lincolnshire on ensuring care homes remain safe places. This is not a message that says: ‘we are now open for all’.  If it is not deemed safe to accept visitors at this time – or at any other time whilst we tackle this pandemic - then a care home can make the decision not to accept visitors and this is absolutely right if we are to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community”.
